Giving Birth Via Bellybutton

Ok, so I will be the first to admit that I don't exactly watch kid friendly shows while my children are around. "Mom, are you watching Rock of Love?" is a common question in my house.
But my excuse is the kids are playing and they aren't paying ANY attention to what I am watching. Well, leave it to my sweet three year old to prove me wrong!
My new favorite show is 16 and Pregnant on MTV which, if you haven't seen it, is like Baby Story on TLC but for kids in highschool who didn't wrap it up. Hannah likes this show. She is in love with babies. It's understandable.
The other day she lined up our dining room chairs like a bed, she then lied down and started grunting. I then made the mistake of asking what she was doing. "I just pushed my baby brother out of my belly button!" Ok. No more adult television for you little one!

My Brother Is My Husband

No, I am not talking about myself and Josh. Nor am I talking about any form of incest. Get your mind out of the gutter. Hannah desperately wants a brother. She asks for him, she talks about him all the time, she even has a name for him. Cinda. As in Cinderella. What a manly name. And every so often, I hear her playing with her brother. They play shopping, dollhouse, coloring - She LOVES to color pictures of her brother. One day while her and her "brother" were playing together so well (nicer than I could ever dream of her playing with her real live sister Leslie) I decided I would inquire about this brother that I have no recollection of giving birth to. "Hannah, can I play with you and your brother?" I ask. "Umm, no." was the response I received. "Where did your brother come from, Hannah?" I inquired, "My brother is my HUSBAND" was the response I was given with a typical Hannah eye roll. Because, I obviously am an IDIOT for not knowing that Cinda, Hannah's brother is her husband. Jeez. Moms totally don't know anything.

God Is So Good

Ok, so I have been a complete slacker "mommy blogger" here lately, but I will try to stay on track. I promise. Here is an amazing video (sideways, but you get the picture) of sweet Hannah singing a song (which I am assuming she made up) called God Is So Good. Be sure to watch for the big finish where she falls off of the chair at the end. Enjoy!

"H"

Hannah learned how to write her first letter! We taught her how to write an "H" as our first step in learning to write her name. She was so proud! Please see pictures below.

Kids Say The Darndest Things

They really do! Hannah was being really funny in the car this morning, so I decided to post some of my most favorite quotes of hers.

1. (I am calling her pretty.) "I not pretty, I Hannah!!!" She is clearly angered by the fact that I have forgotten her name.
2. "But I'm still sleepy!" This is when I am trying to wake her up in the morning. It would be very sweet and charming and almost make me feel bad for her if she hadn't had me up half of the night telling me that she wanted fruit snacks, and she missed Leslie, and that she needed to paint.
3. "You wong!" meaning "You're wrong!" I don't remember what I was wrong about, but it was really funny because when she said "wong" I said "wong" and then she was yelling "wong" at me because I was mispronouncing the word!
4. "I have glue in my eye!" There was no glue in her eye. She was in her carseat on the highway with no glue in sight.
5. "I miss papa's pop..." She sounded very depressed about this.

That is my small list for now. There will be more to come!

Haugen's Galleri Contest

Haugen's Galleri (the portrait studio in Monmouth) is having a pretty cool contest right now. Basically there is a whole bunch of things you can do for entries in to their drawing and then you can win some really cool prizes... check out their blog for more info on that.
They take amazing photos and always seem to have some sort of special going on. Hannah had her pictures taken there once when she was little, but Ben won their Beautiful Baby contest when he was a baby. Very cute.
Check out their website at www.haugensgalleri.com!

Family Scare

We had quite the scare about a week ago. My dad was in a motorcycle accident on a bad corner on Roger's Rd. He broke 3 ribs and split his liver in 2. He is recovering quickly though and he is very lucky. The whole situation made my faith in God stronger than ever. I don't understand people who don't believe in God. Everything happens for a reason and I don't get how people don't think that there is a higher power involved. The weirdest things were that my phone had died right before I left work, I, for some reason, felt like I needed my cell phone for the 10 minute drive home so I put my SIM card in a work phone (something that I have never done before). I was picking the girls up from daycare and the phone would not stop ringing. I looked at it when I got in the car and I had like 5 missed calls. 2 from Autumn and 3 from Keith from work. I called Keith back and apparently him and my boss Justin had been right behind my dad when he wrecked. They got his phone from him and when they opened it they saw a picture of Hannah. Immediately they knew he was related to me. So, they called me. It was very scary, but I impressed myself by how calm I could act in an emergency. If they hadn't have been behind him, I don't think anybody would have seen him in that ditch.
Moral of the story: THERE IS A GOD. Believe. Pray. Be thankful everyday for what you have and don't take your loved ones for granted. You never know when they will be taken from you.
